The Training Wheels of Faith

What is the power that the Lord uses to create? The power by which miracles such as healing, multiplying the fishes and loaves, and raising the dead come to pass – how the world itself was created.

I saw a vision: I was looking at a tree brightened by the light of the sun. I felt the golden vibrating energy from the sun and also the tree. My point of view changed as if microscopic in scale. Tiny blasts of energy were soaked into my body and eyes, and by some kind of current went to places in my brain where they were organized and understood in a tangible way. I then desired to touch the tree and miraculously my legs responded and walked my body toward the tall trunk, and then my brain commanded my hand to reach out and touch the bark. By my “word” or thought it became so.

There are people in the world who cannot experience all these things because some of their senses are blocked. They cannot see the tree. Perhaps they cannot reach out and make their hand touch the bark because of a disability. For most, this physical body can easily handle such tasks.

There are spiritual senses that one must open in order to see and feel what God is capable of doing. Our bodies are like the training wheels of greater faith. By His’ word all things come to pass. When we become one with Him through the Spirit we are able to perform miracles. It is scientific, but cannot be measured in this realm because it is not of this world. Miracles are real – I’ve seen many.  The day will come when the miracles of the priesthood will be commonplace and the world will wonder how such things can be.

If we can learn to see and hear with faith, to see with our mind’s eye and then make it so, we will be exercising the kind of faith the Lord desires us to have.  To have the Lord’s permission to open these senses, because we believe like the Brother of Jared – we shall understand the glory of God and the Heavenly Realm shall be opened to us..

“When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.  For now we see in a mirror, darkly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.” (1 Corinthians 13:11)

As I was reading the part about the sun and the tree and the golden light, and then the tiny bursts of energy. I couldn’t help but think about the miracle of photosynthesis. To look at creations and miracles in the likeness of a photosynthesis of sorts is a beautiful thing.

We must be forgiven of all our sins to perform miracles.

3 Nephi 8:1 And now it came to pass that according to our record, and we know our record to be true, for behold, it was a just man who did keep the record—for he truly did many miracles in the name of Jesus; and there was not any man who could do a miracle in the name of Jesus save he were cleansed every whit from his iniquity—

  5. Yes, that is correct. I said, “By His’ word all things come to pass. When we become one with Him through the Spirit we are able to perform miracles.” To become one in the Spirit is to be bathed in glory or fire. This brings about the remission of sins. We must be holy to perform His work.

The goal clearly is to enter in the gate, through Christ and a complete repentance, and receive the Holy Ghost. What remains a mystery to me is how and when men are given the power to confer the gift of the Holy Ghost, by the laying on of hands, as in the New Testament, which appears to have the ability to truly allow the listeners of the word to receive the Holy Ghost. Clearly it is Jesus who baptizes with fire, but when do such “sent messengers” in the flesh receive the power of this ordinance, and when can we hope to see this restored??? I have faith in Christ, I love Him and I’m trying to repent and do His works with all my heart, but yet the thing which I desire most (3 Nephi 19), still evades me!

Yes, Anthony, I feel the same! So close yet so far it seems.

  8. Let me give some advice: tape a square on the wall near your bed about 12 inches in diameter. In the middle of it write the words, “Receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost.” Ask the Lord every day in your prayers if He will bless you with this, or show you what you need to do to help bring this blessing. If it is the center desire of your heart IT WILL COME TO PASS.

What does it mean to deny the Holy Ghost? My greatest desire is to receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost, and my greatest fear is that I would not be strong enough and deny Christ (God forbid!). 2 Nephi 31:14. Is God gracious enough not to give us gifts we are not ready for no matter how much we beg for them?

  11. It is not an easy thing to deny the Holy Ghost. It is more than a simple declaration. The first person in this world to do this was Cain. He had to do two things: kill innocent blood and make an oath with Satan. The blood spilt had to be a 4th estate being. Those who wish to become sons or daughters of perdition must first have been born again in Jesus Christ, which is such a change of heart that it is inconceivable they would attempt such a thing. Then they would have to be so lured over by Satan that they would be willing to make a personal oath to him and then in a calculating move murder one of the Lord’s anointed. There have been thousands of people who have become sons of perdition since the days of Adam, but your risk is infinitesimally small.

Our bodies are very obedient to our commands, when it comes to moving and the senses, but at the same time we have to discipline the body, so we can control desires, passions, thoughts, appetite. As Mosiah said we have to yield to the enticing of the Spirit. The body or training wheels of faith can teach us so much. Jumping to get there where we can do more, create miracles, it’s where I want to be.

The rights of the priesthood are inseparably connected with the powers of heaven and controlled upon the principles of righteousness.

In relation to the comment above from E. Thurman and then your response… Sons and Daughters of Perdition. Thousands of them since Cain. Are some even now crossing over the line? From being Anointed Ones to murdering another Anointed One in a covenant to Satan? Or, are these Sons of Perdition today carry-overs from former times? Do you know any names of the 4th Estate beings that have been killed by a son of perdition in the last couple of centuries or even more recently? [I have not asked any specifics regarding individuals in the last couple of centuries. There are some that have lingered in this world. The Lord will not allow any at this time to take one of His servants. PR]
