Title Page of the Book of Mormon

In the current edition of the published Book of Mormon is a “Title Page,” translated by Joseph Smith from the record, and placed at the beginning of the book like we typically see for a title page. But this is not where Moroni placed it:

“I wish also to mention here, that the Title Page of the Book of Mormon is a literal translation, taken from the very last leaf, on the left hand side of the collection or book of plates, which contained the record which has been translated; the language of the whole running same as all Hebrew writing in general; and that, said Title Page is not by any means a modern composition either of mine or of any other man’s who has lived or does live in this generation”  – Joseph Smith (The Joseph Smith Papers, History, 1838–1856, volume A-1 [23 December 1805–30 August 1834]).

This is the last notes left by Moroni after writing chapter 10 of his own writings. He felt prompted to write one last thing, to fill the space on the plates to emphasize who the record was made for. As with the rest of the record, there was no punctuation or chapters.

The Book of Mormon, [the actual title given from Moroni] an account written by the hand of Mormon upon plates Taken from the Plates of Nephi; wherefore, it is an abridgment of the record of the people of Nephi, and also of the Lamanites [the words of two great peoples]—written to the Lamanites [Native American peoples who are decedents of these people], who are a remnant of the house of Israel; and also to Jew and Gentile—written by way of commandment [revelation from God], and also by the spirit of prophecy and of revelation [ Prophecy is to say what the Lord directs, revelation is to do as the Lord directs and to understand His ways.]—written and sealed up [Closed from the world], and hid up unto the Lord, that they might not be destroyed—to come forth by the gift and power of God [the gift of Translation] unto the interpretation thereof—sealed by the hand of Moroni, and hid up unto the Lord, to come forth in due time by way of the Gentile [They were hid more than once until they had their final resting place in the Hill Cummorah.]—the interpretation thereof by the gift of God. An abridgment taken from the Book of Ether also, which is a record of the people of Jared, who were scattered at the time the Lord confounded the language of the people, when they were building a tower to get to heaven [Tower of Babel]—which is to show unto the remnant of the house of Israel what great things the Lord hath done for their fathers; and that they may know the covenants of the Lord [The fullness of the Everlasting Covenant, which shall be unsealed at the great day when the Lamanites shall be converted.], that they are not cast off forever—and also to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ [And this event shall lead the way to the final conversion of the House of Israel.], the Eternal God, manifesting himself unto all nations [Through His servants, the Anointed 144k, the Saviors on Mount Zion, the Just Men and Women Made Perfect, the Fourth Estate]—and now, if there are faults [in the translation] they are the mistakes of men; wherefore, condemn not the things of God, that ye may be found spotless at the judgment-seat of Christ. [These mistakes are not to be laid upon Mormon or Moroni, or even Joseph Smith. They are the misunderstood false traditions that have given meaning to certain words that allow their true meaning to be veiled.]

“Behold, it is finished.” [Moroni’s last words regarding the writings.]

Do you have any idea when the Book of Mormon, with your insights, will be made available through your publisher? Also, will your other books be made available soon? I am excited to have copy’s of everything for my own use. Thank you PR for all you do ! [The next step is to have it edited, then to make available. I don’t know how long that will be, perhaps a few months. PR]

PR, how old was Moroni when he wrote his last words? [I do not know. He looked older. PR]

Any new posts you do now, since the BofM series of posts is over, will they be posted by month or by subject matter? I hope you will continue to share, the things you are allowed to share, with this group. They are so uplifting in a world of contention and evil. I loved looking forward to the BofM posts. I will of course reread them all. But I hope you will continue to share the knowledge you are acquiring from the Lord, any stories that are uplifting in your adventures, or anyone you meet in person that would be of interest from the scriptures. I can’t imagine how busy you are but I hope you will continue to enlighten us with your growing knowledge of truth. Truth is pretty rare in the world today. And I love growing spiritually from your many encounters with our Savior or other beings of glory of past generations. Thank you PR. You are a rare gem. [I am currently adding new diagrams on the site, but won’t be doing any posts for a couple weeks. I plan to have the Book of Mormon Thoughts Project printed in book form, and begin posting my wife’s journal entries with her permission. Also, I may from time to time add new scripture insights from the D&C, Pearl of Great Price, and Old/New Testament. PR]

My question is in regards to this bracketed insert which is the only bracketed incert which is not in bold type:
[Through His servants, the Anointed 144k, the Saviors on Mount Zion, the Just Men and Women Made Perfect, the Fourth Estate]—and now, if there are faults [in the translation]
Was this inserted by you or was it inserted by Moroni? [It was me. I forgot to bold it. PR]
I praise God for this wonderful work which he has brought forth through you. Thank you, PR.

Since becoming “awakened” (the best word I can think of to use), I have felt the thick, heavy darkness of the forces of the adversary surround me in such an intensity that, up until this period of my life, have never had to deal with. When I cry unto the Lord with all of my heart to give me His strength to deliver me in those moments, I always feel His light push those evil forces away, leaving my soul liberated and full of light. I take this as a sign I am on the correct path, for I know it will only be a matter of time before I feel that darkness return for another desperate attempt at removing me from the path that leads, literally, to the face of Christ.

The closer you get to the top of the mountain, the heavier the weight will feel in every proceeding step. However, eventually there will be that last step, which leads you up to the ultimate Victory, where, at last, you behold the mighty Jehovah, with His arms outstretched while He declares unto you, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant!”

To those who may have recently begun this awakening journey, expect evil to do everything in its power to make you stumble. Don’t be afraid, but believing and put every ounce of heart and soul into your efforts. Trust in the Lord. He loves you more than you will ever know.

M H, Thank you you’re very personal comments of the adversary.
We are surely commanded to awake and arise. My awakening has brought adversarial attacks that I never imagined. It has been an overarching great experience.

    PR, … A question:

This may sound trite and even Non sensical… In my heart I desire to be a great servant of the Lord. I visit with, and see the Lord daily but continue to have some sort of Timidity In my desire to always approaching Him and be with Him. Is there a general sense or guidance of preparation needed to show that I reverence both His father and Him? Thus, placing me in a position of friendship as well as adoration. Thank you! [In my book How to Open Your Spiritual Eyes I go into great detail for what I do. It is an individual relationship, so yours may come different. Always approach with a broken heart and contrite spirit. PR]
