Lord gave me the following, face to face, November 23, 2016
I then asked the meaning of the scripture, which was given by Nephi to Joseph when he visited him in the old cabin of the Smith Farm. He said, “And he shall plant in the hearts of the children the promises made to the fathers, and the hearts of the children shall return to their fathers, if it were not so, the whole earth would be utterly wasted at his coming.”
The Lord said the “promises” were the everlasting covenant, which the ancient Fathers sought so that they could walk with God and establish Zion. Today, the children, or this young generation has this desire planted in their hearts, to establish Zion before His coming, otherwise the earth would be wasted and without purpose at His glorious coming. I was deeply grateful for this explanation.
Wow, great insight from The Lord. I’m grateful

So it was Nephi and not Moroni ?

In this particular case, yes it was Nephi. Moroni did handle the delivery of the plates.

When you ask questions to the Lord face to face, do you ask the questions with your physical lips in the flesh or is the entire conversation in the spirit? Or in other words, does the entire conversation take place in the spiritual realm?

But what is the everlasting covenant?

Much of that is contained in the words Christ shared with the Nephites, as contained in the Book of Mormon. Also, the extended mysteries in the sealed portion.

Do you have any insight as to which seal we are currently in? End of 6th, beginning of 7th?

Can you explain just a bit more about “the scripture, which was given by Nephi to Joseph when he visited him in the old cabin of the Smith Farm?” I’m unfamiliar with this event.

Joseph Smith History 1:39, but incorrectly identifies the angel as Moroni, although Moroni was the angel when the plates were retrieved.

If turning the hearts of children to the fathers is about the desire to build a zion before Christ comes, what are your thoughts on genealogy and the sealing of families as practised in LDS temples?

Has Joseph said why he wrote down Nephi and then crossed it out to say Moroni? Was he just confused or did someone else cross it out?

I don’t know how it was changed.

It is the full plan to redeem the children of God. In our day it means the gathering of the House of Israel and the elect of God. These covenants are made before birth.

My understanding of this phrase is different than how it is defined in the church.

Is there a difference between the House of Israel and the elect of God, and if so, what is the difference?

In scripture it refers to blood lineage, but spiritually the elect are those who made covenant before they were born. The elect will hear His voice when they are gathered at the end times. The House of Israel has a powerful spiritual component related to the new and everlasting covenant.

How does one know whether or not they made covenant before they were born?

Aer there some who made covenant before they were born, but are not born in the house of Israel in this life?

There are many without the blood of Israel who made the covenant before birth. If you have a burning desire to know Christ that is a pretty strong indicator you made the covenant.

But even if one made the covenant, if they do not bring forth fruit for repentance, are baptized and receive the Holy Ghost it matters not. The Gift is free to all. Once one receives the Gift they are washed clean and adopted into the House of Israel.

What is the difference between the covenant of the old testament that the jews were under and the covenant offered to everyone? It seems as though the ancient jews did not need to be baptized or to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.?

The Jews were born under the covenant, but chose not to live it in its fullness, so were given the Law of Moses. Not until Christ manifested himself in the flesh were they able to receive a fullness. Part of that fullness is the gathering of Israel in these last days.

Thank you so much for the explanation regarding the distinction between House of Israel and the covenant. It has shed a lot of light to questions that have bothered me since joining the LDS church many years ago

Why is Elijah so important that he came to Christ and Moses as they were being taught their missions and identity during their long fasts? And why is he the one promised to come, who oversees those who will enter into the covenant of the fathers? It would seem from the Old Testament that he had the sealing power and was translated. what does he hold the keys to, or if he doesn’t, why is he so pinnacle in coming to those who receive the second comforter and begin their missions?

Elijah administers over those holding sealing power. Him and Moses taught Jesus everything He needed to know to fulfill His final days, including the resurrection.

So are you saying that the experience in the front of the Book of Mormon where Moroni visited Joseph Smith and told him about the gold plates was really Nephi? My only problem with that is that Joseph specifically said the angel said his name was Moroni. Are we talking about the same thing? If we are, what is the explanation behind the discrepancy?

I am aware of that, but I recorded what I was told. You should probably seek a personal revelation. That is all I can say.

Actually Joseph said that his name was Nephi if you look at the earliest known versions of the account (found on the Joseph Smith Papers website).
In the Draft 2 that Joseph Smith read from, the following description is recorded about the visit of an angel to Joseph on September 21, 1823:
He called me by name and said unto me that he was a messenger sent from the presence of God to me and that his name was Nephi. That God had a work for me to do, and that my (name) should be had for good and evil among all nations kindreds and tongues. (JS Papers Histories Vol. 1, p. 222.)
A later redaction in an unidentified hand changed “Nephi” to “Moroni” and noted that the original attribution was to a “clerical error.” (JS Papers Histories Vol. 1, p. 223, footnote 56.)

Does it matter who baptizes you? Do they have to have the priesthood as a member of the LDS Church? [They must have the priesthood as a member of Christ’s Church. What does that mean? You must ask the Lord to guide you in that answer. PR]

I just want to thank you for all your work to share your incredible experiences. I believe it is preparing many for the events that are coming, at least I know what you’ve shared has been a godsend for me. In a previous comment I asked you about Nephi and not Moroni appearing to Joseph Smith in his log cabin. Since then I found that in the Early Church History account the angel does not give his name (pp. 1-2): https://catalog.churchofjesuschrist.org/assets/02b33f96-077a-47c7-b434-c45ee2f89897/0/10
I also found this: “We also have the original version of Joseph Smith–History 1:33, published in the Times and Seasons in 1842, which identified the angel as Nephi. That reference (which was compiled by Joseph’s scribes, not written by Joseph in the first place) was later changed to Moroni…” [It does not state who made the change.] Source: https://www.mobom.org/mary-whitmer
It also states on that same link, an experience where Mary Whitmer (mother of David Whitmer) was shown the plates by a divine messenger she always referred to as “Brother Nephi.”
